Becoming a Trauma-Informed Supervisor: The Role of Trauma in Supervision: Video Course

Psychotherapy work with trauma has been centre stage in the last few years on account of three main factors:

  • Understanding of the trauma spectrum has increased considerably as the distinctions between complex trauma and PTSD have become clearer and a deeper linkage with neurobiology has gained acceptance
  • Practitioners across domains have gained fresh appreciation of trauma informed psychotherapy models with the realisation that working with trauma requires specific skills and techniques
  • The COVID-19 pandemic as well as the experience and threat of war has resulted in a more anxious world; our clients are reporting increased emotional distress and anxiety as well as fear that the world is a dangerous place; which is one of the key indicators of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

What you’ll learn

This interactive and practical workshop is especially designed for supervisors and is aimed at meeting the above objectives for participants from across modalities. The two training days will explore the range of trauma, including complex PTSD that is currently seen in clinical practice. We will also delve deep into the dynamics of trauma and the neurobiological, psychological, psychosocial and physical impact on clients; in order to have a deeper understanding of the long-term effects of trauma and how these manifest in the clinical setting.
